A point system is used, whereby points are deducted for each violation. A score of 100 is given when there are no violations. Scores are summarized into a general grade for each inspection.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EGrade A is for scores 85-100\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nGrade B is for scores 71-85\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nGrade C is for scores under 71\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nSome violations are considered \u201ccritical\u201d, and must be immediately remedied. When 2 of these occur during an inspection, the Grade is dropped to \u201cB\u201d or \u201cC\u201d.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EOperations that are given a \u201cB\u201d grade must improve within a relatively short time to avoid further sanctions. Often, downgraded establishments decide to suspend operations until they can regain their \u201cA\u201d rating. Operations with a \u201cC\u201d grade must improve immediately to avoid permanent closure.
